Introduction

The ability to convert ideas and bring them out in practice is the true sign of an engineer. So here is an event which will trigger their engineering minds and bring out their technical skills!

For all the electronics lovers, here is an opportunity to Think, Create and Apply your minds and mingle with the electronic circuits portraying your designing skills!

Tricky Tronix is all about knowing the understanding and implementation of the electronics concepts and circuits.

The participants will be given a PCB. They need to identify the circuit and make the same circuit on paper. The PCB will be having some faults. The faults are required to be identified and rectified with clear idea of circuit operation. This competition encompasses of 3 rounds.

Prizes worth INR 3000 to be won.

Rounds

Schedule:

Round I: - 3rd Feb

Round II: - 4th Feb

Round III: - 5th Feb

This event has 3 rounds as given below.

  • A team of min 1 and max 3 members.
  • U can’t use any personal component to correct your errors.
  • For any fault in component replacement will be given by organizers
  • U can bring your soldering material and DMM else organizers will provide.
  • If you disobey any of the given rules then you will be disqualified.

Round 1: ELIMINATION ROUND (20 mins)

This round is basically elimination round. It will have 2 tasks.

Task 1:(12 mins)

Different circuits will be drawn on the paper sheet such as WAVE SHAPING CIRCUITS,AMPLIFIERS,OP-AMP CIRCUITS etc.

All these circuits will be distributed (randomly) among all the teams.

Participants are required to identify the circuit and determine the output signal for given input signal.

Task 2:(8 mins)

Three questions will be asked regarding the same circuit.

Round 2:- LIVE WIRE(60 mins)

After eliminations, all qualified teams will move to round 2.Round 2 is actual TRICKY TRONIX competition. It will have 3 tasks to be performed.

NOTE:-

  • Each team will be given one PCB to perform the following tasks. If any team fails to solve given PCB and if they demand for another circuit then they will be given one easier PCB with minus 10 points.
  • Any team completes all the tasks then they will be given one difficult circuit to earn bonus points.

Task 1:

All the teams will be given one PCB (with mounted components). Their task is to identify the circuit and draw the actual circuit on paper from the same PCB.

Circuits can be

  • DIODE / WAVESHAPING CIRCUITS
  • SIMPLE OP-AMP CIRCUITS
  • BASIC TRANSISTORISED CIRCUITS
  • 555 CIRCUITS
  • OSCILLATORS

Task 2:

All the PCBs will have 3 faults in it i.e. faulty mounting of components.

Participants will have to identify it and will have to rectify it.

Task 3:

In this , all the teams will show the actual output of the same circuit. In this task they will make their circuits work after rectification of faults.

NOTE:-

Every element of the given task carries some points. Top 10 scorers will move to final round.

Round 3:- TECHNICAL QUIZ

Qualified teams from round 2 will enter final round. Round 3 is technical quiz round. It will have 2 stages.

Stage 1:

A set of Five teams will compete with each other. Five questions to each team will be asked.

We will cover all the qualified teams from round 2 in sets of 5 teams.

If any team doesn’t give any answer then the asked question will be passed to next team(bonus).

All the questions will be asked with 4 options.

Stage 2:

Few teams will move to next stage.

This stage is rapid fire round.

Each team will be offered few topics such as

  • Basic Electronics
  • Embedded systems
  • Digital Electronics
  • Power electronics
  • Communication
  • Control systems

Now each team has the choice of selecting one topic of their comfort and rapid fire questions willl be asked for 90 seconds. Whoever scores highest points in this stage will win the event.
