Introduction

Queen Xyla has been captured and held prisoner in the High Towers of Doom! The King has announced a handsome reward to any robot and its owner that can Save the Queen!

Prepare to clear every obstacle in your path and save the Queen. Mind you, only your robot can enter. To do this, your robot will have to pick and place aside the numerous obstacles at various heights and finally get the queen out of there!

Task:

Participants must build a remote controlled robot that can pick specified objects from various predetermined heights and place them in a safe place. The robot thus requires a clamping mechanism and an actuator to raise the obstacles to the required height.

Prizes worth INR 6500 to be won.

Gameplay


Round 1:

The robot goes up to the hill and breaks only one balloon at a time so that the weight which attached to the neck of the balloon falls down. The robot has to come down and collect that weight and place it on the case provided according to the number. Repeat this task for all the balloons.

After bursting one balloon, the robot has to collect that block. Only after it has completed this task can it move on to burst the other balloons.

A definite period of time will be given to each team to complete this task.

Point system:

For placing the block on the proper color on the case, points will be given as follows:

Block blue

Block green

15

Block yellow

20

Block orange

25

Block black

Round 2:

By placing all the blocks at specified position, the robot has to clear the path and bring queen to the safe zone.

A definite period of time will be given to complete this task.

As soon as the time starts, the robot lifts blocks B1 and B2 and places them in area B. Then it goes up to the blue hill and puts those blocks in the respective holes, that is, holes B1 and B2.

Then the robot comes down and lifts blocks G1 and G2 to place them in area G. It goes up to Green hill and puts those blocks in respective holes, that is, holes G1 and G2.

Place the blocks R1 and R2 in the area R. Go up to red hill and put those blocks in respective holes,that is, holes R1 and R2.

The robot can’t carry the block while climbing the inclination.

Unless and until robot fills the holes of one color, it can’t switch to other color.

 

Round 3:

By placing all the blocks at specified position, the robot has to clear the path and bring the Queen to the safe zone.

A definite period of time will be given to complete this task.
Blue blocks have to be placed in the blue holes and a blue container provided at the base of the hill.

The robot can do this task by different ways but the conditions are:

1. The robot can’t carry blocks while going up and coming down the inclination.

2. Unless and until it fills the holes of one color, it can’t switch to the other color.

The Green blocks have to be placed in a similar way.

For red blocks, one block has to be placed in the red container and the other on the gate switch, so that the barrier will move up and the robot can take the Queen to the safe zone.

There will be an additional obstacle placed between the blue and green hill, which will be disclosed on the day of event only.

The scoring pattern for the final round will be announced to participants on the day of the event only.

Rules and Specifications

Rules and Specifications:

  • The robot should fit within dimensions of 300mm x 300 mm.
  • The maximum height is 600mm.
  • The dimensions of the robot can increase once the competition starts.
  • Maximum supply voltage is 18V.
  • Ready made gripper mechanisms CANNOT be used.
  • Organizers will not be responsible for any minor scratches left by the previous machines on the arena.
  • The Block will be a Cube of side 6 cm weighing about 150gms.
  • The organizers reserve all rights to change any of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be indicated on the website. In case of any discrepancy decision of the judges shall be treated as final and binding on all.
  • Any damage to the arena whatsoever will lead to immediate disqualification.
