Introduction

In todays' world, we often see people stuck with their touch-screen mobile phones, either playing games or chatting with friends. In fact the era of keypad mobiles is almost nearing its end as we see more and more people shifting towards the touch screen cellphone. This shows us that people now want to feel the digital world; they want electronic devices to be intuitive. We also know that many teachers, in primary schools and at big universities face trouble when they want students to imagine certain big concepts in order to understand the subject properly. Many of these concepts are physics based and it's a daunting task for students to visualize and understand these concepts. Through our project ‘FREESTYLE’, we provide a simple and cost-effective solution to all these problems. All you need is a web-cam and a good computer. People can draw with their hands on computers and even play games like counter-strike through only the movement of their hands. Teachers too, can explain basic laws of physics to students by animating object themselves. Lectures would be more interactive and students would learn faster.

All this can be done with simple webcam, so the cost of developing such system is very low and is affordable for educational institutions and can easily be a part of everyday life.

Through this exhibition we want to give people a taste of the Sixth–Sense technology.

FREESTYLE 2.0 (OpenCV) will be based on home entertainment and recreational activity.

The Plan:

  • Convert all the previous programs of FREESTYLE 2011 to an open source program (C AND CPP).
    An exhibition on Stereo Vision.
  • Provide FREESTYLE 2.0 with what we would call “The Physics Engine” so that you can play with the objects you draw, real-time.
  • Embed OCR and voice recognition to make life easy for physically impaired people.
  • Make the programs very efficient so that computers can handle heavy applications easily.

Applications

SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS:

  • No wastage of chalk and paper as teachers can teach by drawing on projector screen.
  • Gaming would be a great experience.
  • Control of computers through hands.
  • Finds extensive use in conferences and paper presentations.
  • Can be further used to control any electronic gadget.
  • Can be used in mobile phones.
